Product Overview

The PMS-LZME-0510M is a 2:1 telecentric macro zoom lens for machine vision applications requiring adjustable magnification, low distortion and a compact optical structure. Its manual 0.5X–1.0X zoom range allows one optical system to cover different inspection fields without replacing the lens.

The telecentric optical-path design is specified with TV distortion below 0.02% across the listed reference magnifications. As magnification increases, the documented optical resolution improves from 6.71 μm at 0.5X to 3.36 μm at 1.0X, while the reference depth of field changes from 1.60 mm to 0.40 mm.

Unlike a fixed-working-distance telecentric lens, the PMS-LZME-0510M has a variable working distance. The documented WD changes from approximately 106 mm at 0.5X to 75 mm at 1.0X. The machine structure and focus position should therefore be evaluated at the intended magnification before installation.

The lens supports industrial cameras with sensor formats up to 2/3 inch, uses a standard C-Mount interface and provides an adjustable aperture. A universal front filter interface is also available for compatible optical filters.

Important Integration Note

The PMS-LZME-0510M should not be treated like a conventional fixed-working-distance telecentric lens. Its working distance changes as the zoom magnification changes. For example, the documented WD is approximately 106 mm at 0.5X and 75 mm at 1.0X.

If an application requires frequent magnification changes while the object and camera remain mechanically fixed, confirm the required focusing procedure and machine structure before finalizing the optical design.

The zoom operation of this model is manual. Do not assume motorized zoom, autofocus or automatic parfocal compensation unless a separate compatible configuration has been confirmed.

Typical Applications

Semiconductor Inspection
Adjustable magnification supports inspection of chips, packages and small semiconductor structures.
Electronic Components
Suitable for connectors, terminals, communication components and fine electronic structures.
Factory Automation
Useful when one optical station needs to cover different inspection fields or component sizes.
Transformer Inspection
The telecentric macro zoom concept can be used for observation of transformer components and fine assembly features.
LED and Chip Boards
Suitable for detailed observation of LED boards, chip boards and related electronics structures.
Machine Vision R&D
Useful for optical evaluation and laboratory systems requiring adjustable telecentric magnification.

Camera and System Selection

The PMS-LZME-0510M supports industrial cameras with sensor formats up to 2/3 inch and uses a standard C-Mount interface. Before selection, confirm the camera model, effective sensor dimensions, pixel size, required field of view, available working distance, sample-height variation and illumination method.

If dimensional measurement accuracy is important, the optical system should also be evaluated for telecentricity, distortion, calibration conditions, mechanical stability and object-space pixel sampling rather than relying on magnification alone.

Read the POMEAS Telecentric Lens Selection Guide for guidance on FOV, working distance, depth of field and measurement accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the magnification range of PMS-LZME-0510M?

The lens provides a 2:1 manual zoom range from 0.5X to 1.0X. The specification table lists reference values at 0.5X, 0.6X, 0.7X, 0.8X, 0.9X and 1.0X.

Does the working distance remain constant while zooming?

No. The documented working distance changes from approximately 106 mm at 0.5X to 75 mm at 1.0X. Installation space and focus position should be checked for the intended magnification.

Which camera sensor formats are supported?

The maximum supported sensor format is 2/3 inch. The lens uses a C-Mount interface. Please provide the camera model and effective sensor dimensions for final compatibility confirmation.

What field of view will I obtain?

Field of view depends on both sensor size and selected magnification. Refer to the complete FOV table for 2/3-inch, 1/2-inch and 1/3-inch reference formats or provide your camera model for confirmation.

Is the zoom operation motorized?

No. The product documentation specifies manual zoom operation. Motorized zoom should not be assumed for this model.

Is the working distance fixed?

No. This telecentric macro zoom lens uses different documented working distances at different magnification settings. This is an important difference from many fixed-magnification telecentric lenses.

What is the specified TV distortion?

TV distortion is specified as less than 0.02% at all six listed reference magnifications.

Can the aperture be adjusted?

Yes. The documentation states that the aperture is adjustable, allowing depth of field and resolution to be balanced for the imaging task. The listed reference F-Number is F5.

Is PMS-LZME-0510M the same as a fixed telecentric lens?

No. PMS-LZME-0510M is a telecentric macro zoom lens with adjustable magnification and variable working distance. A fixed-magnification telecentric lens is normally preferable when the application requires one fixed field of view, fixed working distance and maximum measurement stability.

Does the lens include a camera, illumination or filter?

The product documentation describes the lens itself. Camera, illumination, optical filters and mounting accessories should be confirmed separately and should not be assumed to be included.

What information should I provide for selection?

Please provide the camera model, effective sensor dimensions, pixel size, required field of view, object dimensions, available working distance, sample-height variation, smallest inspection feature, illumination method and required inspection or measurement accuracy.
