POMEAS LM-1030 online laser diameter gauge: 0.3–30 mm range, ±2 µm accuracy and ±0.15 µm repeatability at 2400 samples per second for wire, cable and tube lines.
The POMEAS LM-1030 is an online laser diameter gauge for continuous product: 0.3–30 mm measuring range, ±2 µm accuracy, ±0.15 µm repeatability and 2400 samples per second, so the line never stops to be measured.
The LM-1030 projects a GaN green LED beam across the product and reads the shadow on an HL-CCD line sensor. With a 160 ± 40 mm transmitter-to-receiver distance and about 33 mm of scan width, it measures outer diameter from 0.3 to 30 mm at 2400 samples per second while the product moves through the gap — no stopping, no contact, no marking.

Repeatability (±0.15 µm) is the ±2σ value when measuring the width of the POMEAS standard target (a calibrated glass scale) at the centre of the measuring area, averaged 16 times. Position measuring accuracy (±2 µm) is the width error on the same standard target. Both are manufacturer bench values under defined conditions — they are not the tolerance your line will hold. Presentation, vibration, temperature drift and edge quality of your part each add their own terms.

Engineering dimensions of the LM-1030 head (unit: mm, from the POMEAS HM datasheet, 2024.11.20).

The chart plots repeatability and position accuracy across the HM series against measuring field. LM-1030 is highlighted. The pattern is physical, not arbitrary: a larger field means more sensor area per dimension, so repeatability loosens from ±0.05 µm at φ6 mm to ±0.2 µm at φ120 mm. Choosing a head is therefore a trade-off — take the smallest field that still covers your part with margin for presentation tolerance. The chart shows datasheet values, not measured results.
| Model | Field | Repeatability | Position accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|
| HM-1006 | φ6 mm | ±0.05 µm | ±0.2 µm |
| HM-1015 | φ15 mm | ±0.05 µm | ±0.3 µm |
| HM-1040 | φ40 mm | ±0.08 µm | ±1.0 µm |
| HM-1065 | φ65 mm | ±0.1 µm | ±1.2 µm |
| HM-1120 | φ120 mm | ±0.2 µm | ±2.5 µm |
The LM-1030 is aimed at continuous product: wire and cable extrusion, tube and hose drawing, fibre and filament lines, and shaft-like parts on transfer lines. Anywhere the question is "what is the diameter right now, and has it drifted?" at production speed, this class of gauge is the standard answer.
The LM-1030 measures outer diameter of the shadow it sees. It does not measure wall thickness of opaque tube, internal features, or surface form. Opaque parts that fill or exceed the 0.3–30 mm range, and line speeds that push travel-per-sample below the feature size you need to catch, both need a different configuration — tell us the speed and we will calculate it with you.
Tell us the part dimensions, the tightest tolerance, the line speed and the material — a sample photo helps. We will confirm whether the LM-1030 field and accuracy class cover your case, which dimensions one capture will return, and which will need a different principle. Quotation and sample testing available on request.
No. ±0.15 µm is the manufacturer's bench value measured on a calibrated glass scale at the centre of the field, averaged 16 times. On your line, presentation, vibration, temperature drift and part edge quality add their own error terms, so the working tolerance you can hold is always wider. Budget for it explicitly instead of copying the datasheet number into a control plan.
Parts whose critical dimensions are defined by the silhouette: outer diameters, widths, spacings, angles and edge positions inside the 0.3–30 mm field. LM-1030 suits high-volume parts that would otherwise queue for bench measurement.
Internal bores, wall thickness that does not reach the silhouette edge, surface form and geometrical tolerances such as flatness. Height and 3D topography need a different principle — confocal or interferometric systems cover those.
Results output to the line PLC or host for logging, alarming and automatic sorting. The HM-1000 vision controller is included as standard; integration questions (protocol, I/O mapping, sorting logic) are covered during commissioning.
Zero and gain checks against a standard target on a defined interval, and keeping the backlight window clean. The telecentric optics are factory-aligned — no routine optical adjustment is expected on site.
Yes. Send the part drawing or a sample photo with dimensions and tolerance; we run the evaluation and, where useful, sample tests, then confirm which dimensions one capture returns before you commit.
