The POMEAS PMS-LFGH-2516M is a 25mm C-mount machine vision lens developed for industrial cameras with sensor formats up to 1 inch. It combines 5MP optical resolution, an adjustable F1.6-F22 manual iris and independent focus and iris locking screws in a compact industrial housing.

With a maximum supported sensor area of 12.8 × 9.6mm and a Ø16mm image circle, the lens can be paired with compatible 1-inch, 2/3-inch and smaller C-mount industrial cameras. Its fixed 25mm focal length is suitable for machine vision systems requiring a narrower viewing angle than common 8mm, 12mm or 16mm lenses.

The lens is intended for machine vision, factory automation, product recognition and general industrial image acquisition applications where stable focus, adjustable exposure and compact mechanical integration are required.

Key Features

Supports Sensors up to 1 Inch

The PMS-LFGH-2516M supports industrial camera sensors up to 1 inch, with maximum sensor dimensions of 12.8 × 9.6mm.

Using a lens with an image circle matched to the camera sensor helps reduce the risk of mechanical vignetting and insufficient image coverage. The lens can also be used with smaller sensor formats, although the resulting field of view will become narrower.

5MP Optical Resolution

This 25mm industrial camera lens is rated for machine vision cameras with resolutions up to 5 megapixels.

It is suitable for general-purpose image acquisition, feature recognition, positioning, presence detection and appearance inspection. Final image quality also depends on camera pixel size, sensor dimensions, illumination, exposure time, working distance and mechanical stability.

25mm Fixed Focal Length

The fixed 25mm focal length provides a narrower field of view and greater object magnification than shorter focal length lenses used with the same sensor and working distance.

It is a practical option when the camera must be installed farther from the inspected object, or when a wider-angle lens captures excessive background area around the target.

Because this is a fixed focal length machine vision lens, the field of view is adjusted mainly by changing the working distance, changing the camera sensor size or selecting another focal length.

F1.6-F22 Manual Iris

The adjustable F1.6-F22 iris allows the operator to balance image brightness, exposure time and depth of field.

A wider aperture allows more light to reach the sensor and may support shorter exposure times in high-speed inspection systems. A smaller aperture can increase depth of field when the inspected object has height variation.

The iris should not be closed more than necessary, because an excessively small aperture can reduce fine image detail through diffraction.

Focus and Iris Locking Screws

The lens includes independent locking screws for both focus and iris adjustment.

After the required focus and exposure settings have been confirmed, the screws can be tightened to reduce accidental adjustment. This helps maintain more consistent imaging conditions during continuous machine operation, vibration or equipment maintenance.

Standard C-Mount Interface

The standard C-mount design allows integration with a wide range of compatible industrial cameras.

Before ordering, confirm that the camera uses a C-mount interface rather than CS-mount, M12, M42 or another connection. Camera mount compatibility, sensor size and required field of view should all be checked together.

Angular Field of View

Sensor FormatDiagonalHorizontalVertical
1 Inch36.2°29.0°21.8°
2/3 Inch25.0°20.0°15.0°

The values above are angular field-of-view specifications. The actual object-side field of view depends on the camera sensor dimensions and working distance.

For reliable optical selection, provide both the required horizontal and vertical field of view instead of selecting the lens only by focal length.

Camera Compatibility

The PMS-LFGH-2516M can be used with compatible monochrome or color industrial cameras using C-mount sensors up to 1 inch.

Before selecting the lens, confirm the following camera information:

  • Camera model
  • Sensor model
  • Sensor dimensions
  • Camera resolution
  • Pixel size
  • Lens mount
  • Required field of view
  • Available working distance
  • Required inspection accuracy

A camera with a C-mount interface is not automatically guaranteed to produce the required field of view. The sensor dimensions, working distance and object size must also be considered.

Use with a 1-Inch Sensor

When used with a compatible 1-inch sensor, the lens provides the widest specified field of view and uses the full supported image circle.

The specified angular field of view is 36.2° diagonal, 29.0° horizontal and 21.8° vertical.

Use with a 2/3-Inch Sensor

The lens can also be used with a 2/3-inch industrial camera. Because the sensor is smaller, it captures a reduced central portion of the image circle.

The resulting angular field of view is 25.0° diagonal, 20.0° horizontal and 15.0° vertical.

Working Distance and Field of View

The specified focusing range is from 1 metre to infinity.

This makes the lens more suitable for medium- and long-distance industrial imaging than for close-range or macro inspection. Applications requiring a working distance below 1 metre should be evaluated before selection.

At the same working distance, a 25mm lens normally provides a narrower field of view than a 16mm or 20mm lens. Increasing the working distance expands the visible object area, while reducing the working distance produces a smaller field of view and greater object magnification.

The final visible area should be confirmed through optical calculation or an actual camera test before production installation.

Distortion Considerations

The specified distortion is -2.06% at an image height of 8.0mm and -0.98% at an image height of 5.5mm.

For recognition, presence detection, positioning and general appearance inspection, distortion may be managed through system calibration and image-processing software.

For dimensional measurement, gauging or applications requiring consistent geometry across the image, the complete measurement error budget should be evaluated. A lower-distortion or telecentric lens may be more appropriate when measurement accuracy is the main requirement.

The page should not describe this product as a zero-distortion or ultra-low-distortion lens.

Typical Applications

The PMS-LFGH-2516M 25mm C-mount machine vision lens can be considered for:

  • Automated appearance inspection
  • Product presence and absence detection
  • Component positioning and alignment
  • Assembly verification
  • Industrial feature recognition
  • Label and character recognition
  • Electronics manufacturing inspection
  • Factory automation camera systems
  • Production-line monitoring
  • General industrial image acquisition

Application suitability depends on the required field of view, working distance, object size, smallest feature to be detected, inspection speed, camera pixel size and illumination conditions.

Lens Selection Guidance

To determine whether this 1-inch C-mount lens is suitable, compare the required object field of view with the camera sensor dimensions and available working distance.

Select the lens according to the complete imaging requirement rather than megapixel rating alone. A successful machine vision configuration should consider:

  • Sensor size
  • Pixel size
  • Required image resolution
  • Object dimensions
  • Working distance
  • Field of view
  • Depth of field
  • Illumination
  • Exposure time
  • Mechanical installation
  • Acceptable distortion

For high-accuracy inspection, calculate the object-side pixel resolution and reserve sufficient pixels for the smallest feature that must be detected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the PMS-LFGH-2516M compatible with a 1-inch camera?

Yes. The lens supports sensor formats up to 1 inch, with maximum sensor dimensions of 12.8 × 9.6mm and a Ø16mm image circle.

The camera must also use a compatible C-mount interface.

Can this lens be used with a 2/3-inch camera?

Yes. A 2/3-inch sensor is smaller than the maximum supported 1-inch image format.

The field of view will be narrower than it is on a 1-inch sensor.

Is this a zoom lens?

No. The PMS-LFGH-2516M is a fixed focal length lens with a focal length of 25mm.

Focus can be adjusted, but the focal length does not change.

Does the lens have a manual iris?

Yes. The iris can be adjusted from F1.6 to F22 and secured using the iris locking screw.

Is it suitable for close-range inspection?

The specified focusing range begins at 1 metre. It is therefore not primarily designed for close-range or macro imaging.

For a working distance below 1 metre, provide the required field of view and camera sensor information for optical evaluation.

Can the lens be used for dimensional measurement?

It may be used after the system has been calibrated and the required accuracy has been evaluated. However, a standard fixed focal length lens can introduce distortion and perspective variation.

For higher-accuracy measurement, a telecentric or lower-distortion optical solution may be more suitable.

How do I confirm the correct field of view?

Provide the camera sensor dimensions, working distance and required horizontal and vertical field of view.

These values can be used to calculate whether the 25mm focal length is suitable.
