Buyers shortlisting a one-click image dimension measurement system usually arrive with a named incumbent — most often the Keyence IM series — and ask whether an alternative measures the same way. This page does not restate any competitor's specifications or claim equivalence; it gives you the parameter checklist our application engineers use when a customer benchmarks any instant-measurement system against the POMEAS IMAGE 3 series, so the comparison is made on your parts and your tolerances rather than on brochure numbers.
Ask every vendor for the accuracy figure twice: non-connected and connected (stitched), and the formula for the length term. On the IMAGE 3 series these are published per model — for example ±2 µm non-connected and ±(2+0.02L) µm connected in precision mode on the PRO, ±1 µm and ±(1.5+0.02L) µm on the MAX series, with repeatability of ±0.5 µm / ±0.25 µm. If a competing datasheet states a single accuracy number without conditions, measure your real part under both regimes before comparing — see how to read an instant measurement accuracy spec.
These are two different numbers and both matter. The stage range bounds part size in precision mode; the field of view bounds what is measured in one shot. On the IMAGE 3 series, precision-mode ranges run from 18 × 18 mm (IMAGE 3, fixed platform) through 118 × 118 × 75 mm (PLUS) to 218 × 118 × 75 mm (PRO), while the wide-field mode reaches 300 × 200 × 75 mm. Confirm your largest part fits the stage, and your tray layout fits the field.
Demonstrate, on your part: outer diameters, overall length, groove widths, hole position, angles — and equally important, what the system will not read. A 2D silhouette system does not measure thread pitch diameter optically or coaxiality between diameters; where height and step matter, ask whether a height sensor is available and what its working distance and range are. On the IMAGE 3 MAX series the optional 8055 point-spectral confocal sensor covers height and step features (reference: height measurement on a flash machine).
The practical promise of one-click measurement is that a new operator measures correctly on day one. Test it: how many clicks from part placement to report, whether teaching is needed per part family, and how a drawing change is handled. Bring the same untrained operator to both demos and compare the reports they produce.
Confirm the report format your quality system needs (PDF/Excel/CSV), whether results export directly into your SPC software, and how measurement traceability is documented. The data loop is described in closing the data loop: SPC on a flash machine.
An alternative is only an alternative if it is supported where you operate. Ask each vendor — us included — about local calibration support, spare-part availability, and delivery time. We document factory calibration and provide the certificates shipped with each IMAGE 3 system; ask for them during the demo.
A structured selection route is in the flash measurement machine selection guide, and the product-side entry point is the POMEAS IMAGE 3 Instant Vision Measuring System.
Without reference to any competitor's numbers, our design choices are published openly: dual 1-inch 20 MP monochrome CMOS cameras on the standard models, a dual-magnification telecentric lens (18 × 18 mm precision / Ø100 mm wide-field), stage options up to 300 × 200 × 75 mm wide-field, and an optional 8055 spectral confocal height sensor on the MAX series. If your benchmark shows a different balance — a smaller stage but tighter one-shot accuracy, for instance — we will say so against your part, not against a datasheet.
It is an alternative in the same instrument class: a one-click image dimension measurement system for non-contact dimensional inspection. Whether it replaces an incumbent for your parts is decided by the benchmark — stage range, accuracy conditions, feature coverage and service in your region — not by a general claim on this page.
We match requirements, not line items. Send the part drawings and the tolerance list behind the incumbent's offer; we return the IMAGE 3 model that covers them, the accuracy figures with their conditions, and where we would honestly route some features to a different instrument.
Send us the part. We measure it, document repeatability across repeated placements, and return the raw report — that is the data a benchmark should rest on. We do not publish measured-on-your-part numbers in advance, and we do not cite competitor datasheet figures.
Part drawings with tolerances, the features your quality plan actually requires, sample quantities per batch, the report format your system needs, and your current measurement bottleneck (time per part, transcription errors, or gauge availability).
The system outputs standard PDF/Excel inspection reports with SPC export; bring your report template to the demo and we will generate it from the measurement, so you judge the real artefact rather than a sample screenshot.
Where a required capability is absent from the model you benchmark — for example a height sensor on a 2D-only configuration, or a stage range smaller than your part. State the requirement, check the published range, and route the check elsewhere if it does not fit; a selection guide position is in instant measurement vs CMM.
