An image dimension measurement system captures a part image once and derives multiple dimensions - length, width, diameter, angle, position and profile - from that image, so a full inspection runs in seconds instead of the minutes a manual method needs. The POMEAS IMAGE 3 series is an image dimension measurement system built around telecentric optics, monochrome CMOS cameras and one-key measurement software: place the part, run the program, output the report. This guide summarizes the series specification and how to choose a model.
The instrument illuminates the workpiece with a controlled light (ring, backlight or coaxial), images it through a telecentric lens onto a high-resolution CMOS sensor, and the AI-Image measurement software detects edges and fits geometric features against the program. Because telecentric optics keep magnification constant over the depth of field, small part-height variation does not skew the measurement scale. The minimum display unit across the series is 0.1 μm, and results can be output as one-key reports for quality records.
Figures per the POMEAS IMAGE 3 specification table (product page, checked 2026-11-03):
| Model | Measuring range (precision / wide-field) | Repeatability (precision / wide-field) | Height measurement |
|---|---|---|---|
| IMAGE 3 | 18 × 18 mm fixed platform / Ø100 mm | ±0.5 μm / ±1 μm | Not available |
| IMAGE 3 PLUS | 118 × 118 × 75 mm / 200 × 200 × 75 mm | ±0.5 μm / ±1 μm | Not available |
| IMAGE 3 PRO | 218 × 118 × 75 mm / 300 × 200 × 75 mm | ±0.5 μm / ±1 μm | Not available |
| IMAGE 3 PRO-H | 218 × 118 × 75 mm / 300 × 200 × 75 mm | ±0.5 μm / ±1 μm | Configurable |
| IMAGE 3 MAX | 205 × 104 × 75 mm / 223 × 118 × 75 mm | ±0.25 μm / ±0.5 μm | 8055 spectral confocal, WD 55 mm, range ±3 mm |
| IMAGE 3 MAX2 | 206 × 106 × 75 mm / 225 × 125 × 75 mm | ±0.25 μm / ±0.5 μm | 8055 spectral confocal (optional) |
Camera options are 20 MP or 12 MP monochrome CMOS; the MAX and MAX2 single-frame field of view is 6 × 6 mm to 25 × 25 mm class for small high-precision parts. The full product page is the IMAGE 3 instant vision measuring system.
Three inputs decide the model. First, the largest part envelope in the part family: up to Ø100 mm in the lens field of view the base IMAGE 3 works without an XY stage; beyond that, PLUS and PRO add motorized ranges up to 300 × 200 mm. Second, the tightest tolerance: MAX and MAX2 carry ±0.25 μm precision-mode repeatability where the base series is ±0.5 μm. Third, whether height matters: only the MAX line adds the optional 8055 spectral confocal height sensor. For the underlying method and trade-offs, see the flash measurement machine selection guide.
It is an optical instrument that images a part once and derives many dimensions from that image - length, width, diameter, angle, position and profile - using telecentric optics and edge-detection software. The POMEAS IMAGE 3 series performs this with one-key measurement and one-key report output.
IMAGE 3 MAX and MAX2, with ±0.25 μm precision-mode repeatability versus ±0.5 μm on the other models, per the specification table. They also add the optional 8055 spectral confocal height sensor.
The base IMAGE 3 works within an 18 × 18 mm field of view (or Ø100 mm in wide-field mode) without an XY stage. IMAGE 3 PLUS extends to 200 × 200 mm and PRO to 300 × 200 mm in wide-field mode, with Z travel to 75 mm.
Yes on the MAX line: the optional 8055 spectral confocal sensor (WD 55 mm, range ±3 mm) adds height measurement. The IMAGE 3, PLUS and PRO models are XY-only instruments.
