A 4K zoom lens is not defined by a label on the datasheet. It only delivers 4K-level images when the lens resolves the pixel pitch of the camera behind it, holds distortion low enough across the zoom range, and covers the sensor's image circle. POMEAS publishes the optical data for each magnification step, so the question can be answered with numbers instead of adjectives.
This page lists every 4K-class continuous zoom model in the current catalogue with the figures published on its product page: zoom ratio, optical magnification, working distance, maximum sensor, mount and per-step resolution.
Models below share the same 0.68X–5.0X optical platform but differ in control method, sensor coverage and mechanical form. That is why the same "4K zoom lens" query returns several part numbers.
| Model | Zoom ratio | Optical magnification | Working distance | Max. sensor | Mount | Zoom control |

All values below are transcribed from the published product pages. Blank cells mean the value is not published for that model — treat as 待确认, not as zero.
Resolution here is the optical resolution at the image plane, not the sensor pixel size. At 0.68X it is roughly 10 µm; by 3X it is close to 3 µm. If your defect is 20 µm and you work at 0.68X, the lens — not the camera — is the limit.

Large-board inspection at low magnification. 0.68X on a 1-inch sensor covers a wide field with distortion below 0.02%. Choose the manual version when the magnification is set once per product change.
Mixed-product lines. Motorized control (RS-232 or pulse) is the differentiator: the magnification can be changed from the PLC without touching the lens, and the position can be stored per recipe.
Coaxial illumination. Some 4K models are published as coaxial-configuration lenses, others as external-illumination only. Confirm the illumination configuration before quoting — the mechanical interface differs.
The three platforms answer different questions, and picking the wrong one is more expensive than picking the wrong model inside a platform.
| Platform | Field of view | Magnification | Where it wins |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4K zoom lens | Wide, adjustable within the ratio | Continuous 0.68X–5.0X | Mixed products, one station, detection plus confirmation |
| 4K fixed focal lens | Fixed per lens | Fixed | One product, highest resolution per euro, no moving parts |
| 4K line scan lens | One line, stitched by motion | Fixed, low magnification | Continuous web, large flat panels, cylindrical parts |
A zoom lens trades a little resolution for flexibility. If the product mix never changes, a fixed focal lens at the same magnification will usually resolve slightly better and cost less. If the mix changes weekly, the zoom lens removes a mechanical changeover.
No. A 4K camera lens is usually a fixed-focal lens for photography. A 4K zoom lens here means a continuous zoom lens whose optical resolution stays compatible with 4K sensors across the zoom range.
Yes. The lens resolves more than the camera needs; the benefit is a sharper image and less aliasing, not a higher pixel count.
No. Check the per-magnification resolution table. Resolution degrades or improves with magnification, and the published step data is the only reliable reference.
Control method, sensor coverage, illumination configuration and mechanical length differ. The optical platform can be identical while the integration cost is not.
If you already know the field of view and the defect size, the magnification follows from them. Start with the numbers, then pick the model.
